sustainable choices for your new sofa
At 4x6 sofa, we're committed to sustainability in every step of our process. Our sofas are almost always made to order, which not only minimizes unnecessary waste but also prevents the factory from having to maintain large inventories. We also actively work to give our showroom models and other sofas we can no longer sell as new a second life. Discover our attractive sale models here !
Sustainable sofas
Recycling fabrics is a great way to make a difference, as it requires significantly less energy than collecting new materials. We love creating sofas that are not only comfortable and stylish, but also responsibly produced. This way, we're taking small but important steps toward a better world.
Sustainable furniture fabrics for modular sofas
In our collection of 24 fabrics, we're pleased to introduce our first four ECO fabrics. In collaboration with leading Dutch and Belgian fabric manufacturers, we've selected four fabrics made entirely from recycled PET bottles or made from residual materials from other industries. These innovative fabric manufacturers are committed to environmentally friendly production methods, which we wholeheartedly encourage! We're determined to ensure that a larger portion of our fabrics in each new collection are made from 100% sustainable materials.
Which fabrics in our collection are ECO?

Color #02 Teddy Beige: This Teddy fabric is made from 100% recycled materials. It's made from PET bottles collected in the Benelux region and processed in Belgium into a super soft and comfortable teddy fabric.
It's a unique fabric made entirely eco-friendly: the factory where the new yarns are made controls the entire process and fully supports this super-soft shearling product. The trend for winter 2023/2024.

Color #08 beige uni : The beige uni is made of Harmolan, a 100% upcycled material made from polypropylene—a synthetic textile fiber. Harmolan requires no water to produce. Furthermore, the fabrics do not absorb water and are dirt-repellent and quick-drying. It is one of the lightest textile fibers and has high abrasion resistance.

Upcycling means repurposing an unusable (residual) product into a new product that has more value than before. Upcycling uses fewer raw materials and therefore reduces CO2 emissions. It also reduces waste in our country and challenges businesses and entrepreneurs to develop more sustainable products that can be easily reused.
This Harmolan fabric can be reused up to 10 times, making it completely recyclable. With an average life cycle of 100 years, it's the most sustainable fiber ever created by humans.
Color #10 Teddy Ecru: This Teddy fabric is also made from 100% recycled materials. It's made from PET bottles collected in the Benelux and processed in Belgium into a super-soft and comfortable Teddy fabric.
A unique fabric made entirely eco-friendly: the factory where the new yarns are made controls the entire process and fully supports this product made of super-soft shearling, also known as borg. The trend for winter 2023/2024.

Oekotex Standard 100 certification
All four ECO fabrics in the 4x6 sofa are Oekotex Standard 100 certified. This means the fabric must contain at least 50% recycled material, and for our fabrics, this figure is 100%.
The Oekotex Standard is an internationally recognized quality mark that indicates that a product has been manufactured in an environmentally and humane manner. It is a testing and certification system for textiles. The standard focuses on limiting the use of harmful substances in relation to the health of the end user. This makes the upholstery fabrics child- and animal-friendly.
The label is managed by the International Oeko-Tex Association, which also conducts inspections. The label indicates which institute tested the product for certification.
Our ECO fabrics are sustainable fabrics in the broadest sense of the word; it is a collective name for the fabrics in our collection that have a much lower footprint.
