At 4x6 sofa we are committed to sustainability in every step of our process. Our sofas are almost always made to order, which not only minimizes unnecessary waste but also prevents the factory from having to build up large inventories. In addition, we are actively committed to giving our showroom models and other sofas that we can no longer sell as 'new' a second chance. Discover our attractive sale models here !
Sustainable sofas
Recycling fabrics is a great way to contribute, because it requires considerably less energy than collecting new materials. We like to create sofas that are not only comfortable and stylish, but also produced responsibly. In this way, we take small but important steps towards a better world.
Sustainable furniture fabrics for modular sofas
In our collection of 24 fabrics, we are pleased to introduce our first 4 ECO fabrics. In collaboration with leading Dutch and Belgian fabric manufacturers, we have selected 4 fabrics that consist entirely of recycled PET bottles or are made from residual materials from other sectors. These innovative fabric manufacturers are committed to environmentally friendly production methods, which we of course strongly encourage! We are determined to have a larger part of our fabrics consist of 100% sustainable materials in every new collection.
Which fabrics in our collection are ECO?
Color #02 teddy beige: this Teddy fabric is a fabric that consists of 100% recycled material. The fabric is made of PET bottles that are collected in the Benelux and processed in Belgium into a super soft and comfortable teddy fabric.
It is a unique fabric that is made entirely eco-friendly: the factory where the new yarns are made has the entire process in its own hands and can fully support this product of super soft shearling. The trend of winter 2023/2024.
Color #08 beige uni : the beige uni is made of Harmolan; a 100% upcycled material made of polypropylene - a synthetic textile fiber. No water is needed for the production of Harmolan. In addition, the fabrics do not absorb water and are dirt-repellent and quick-drying. It is one of the lightest textile fibers and has a high wear resistance.
Upcycling means that an unusable (residual) product is processed into a new product that has more value than before. Upcycling uses fewer raw materials and therefore emits less CO2. In addition, it reduces the amount of waste in our country and challenges companies and entrepreneurs to develop more sustainable products that can be reused well.
This Harmolan fabric can be reused up to 10 times, so it is completely recyclable. With an average life cycle of 100 years, it is the most sustainable fiber ever created by man.
Color #10 teddy ecru: this Teddy fabric is also a fabric that consists of 100% recycled material. The fabric is made of PET bottles that are collected in the Benelux and processed in Belgium into a super soft and comfortable Teddy fabric.
A unique fabric that is made entirely eco-friendly: the factory where the new yarns are made has the entire process in-house and can fully support this product made of super-soft shearling, also called borg. The trend of winter 2023/2024.
Oekotex Standard 100 certification
All four ECO fabrics of 4x6 sofa have the Oekotex Standard 100 certification. This means that at least 50% recycled material must be in the fabric, for our fabrics this is even 100%.
The Oekotex Standard is an internationally recognised quality mark that indicates that a product has been produced in an environmentally friendly and human-friendly manner. It is a testing and certification system for textiles. The standard focuses on limiting the use of harmful substances in relation to the health of the end user. This makes the furniture fabrics child- and animal-friendly.
The label is managed by the International Oeko-Tex Association, which also carries out the inspection. The label states which institute tested the product for the award of the quality mark.
Our ECO fabrics are sustainable fabrics in the broadest sense of the word, it is a collective name for the fabrics we have in the collection where the footprint is much lower.
